Call For Action Against Dangerous Tackles

Aaron Ramsay

Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsay has just now healed from having his leg broken from a bad tackle in time to play for England in their upcoming international match against Wales this weekend.

Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna has called for action against dangerous tackles.

He is angry after Arsenal’s Samir Nasri “almost had his leg cut off” by Paul Scholes in 2-0 FA Cup defeat at the hands of Manchester United.

Sagna has seen two of his Gunners teammates, Aaron Ramsey and Eduardo, end up with broken legs due to reckless, heavy tackles.

Samir Nasri recently suffered from a reckless, high challenge by Paul Scholes in the FA Cup defeat to Manchester United.

“We’ve had two broken legs,” said Sagna. “We went to Manchester and Samir got his leg ripped off again.

“They always wait until there is a major incident to make a decision, and then it’s too late.”

“He almost had his leg cut off. “If he breaks his leg what shall we say? It’s too late.

“The problem is you can’t have a discussion with them – you can’t have a debate.”

Arsenal’s has been eliminated from three major competitions.

“When you make all those efforts, you reach the League Cup final, which is at Wembley, and then we soil ourselves, that’s not normal,” he said.

“We were beaten in every domain, they won the most tackles, and honestly they deserved it.”

Sagna hopes Arsenal will bring a Premiership trophy to Emirates Stadium this season as they sit five points behind Manchester United in the title race, but with a game in hand.

“We know we can do it,” he said. “To answer the critics, you have to win. For the moment we have not done this. So we can’t answer back.”

Arsene Wenger Proud of Arsenal Side’s 2010-11 Campaign

Arsene Wenger, Arsenal Manager

Arsene Wenger insists he will not quit Arsenal, even if they face a sixth season without a trophy.

Arsenal has come close to victory on several fronts this campaign. The Gunners’ Carling Cup final defeat and exits in the Champions League and FA Cup have been a disappointment to Wenger, the team and the fans.

Wenger commented about the season to date.

‘You ask about my commitment? When I sign a contract I respect it. (If) you look at what we did this season, it deserves a lot of credit. Would anybody have predicted that we are where we are, in front of Chelsea and Man City and fighting for the championship? Nobody.

‘We should be proud of what we did until now. So let people talk and let us do the job.’

‘Is it a quieter dressing room now? Maybe. But I am convinced that Arsenal has a special meaning for them and that will come out.’

FA Cup: Manchester United v Arsenal Mar 12, 2011

Arch Rivals Arsene Wenger v Alex Ferguson

FA Cup Quarterfinals – Man Utd v Arsenal

“A quarter-final tie against Arsenal is always an exciting game – an opportunity to get to the semi-finals so we’ll do our best and play our best team available,” said Man United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Manchester United have a lengthy injury list ahead of hosting Arsenal on Saturday (1715 GMT), with defender Rio Ferdinand (calf) and winger Nani (leg gash) out along with midfielders Anderson (knee), Park Ji-sung (hamstring) and Antonio Valencia (ankle) all sidelined.

Arsenal’s injury list includes goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny who was ruled out for six weeks with a finger injury and Lukasz Fabianski.

We have Wojciech out, in my opinion for six weeks. We have Fabianski out for the rest of the season. We need absolutely some cover in goal,” said Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.
