Samri Nasri Played Last Match for Arsenal

Nasri Transfers to Manchester City

Arsenal has now lost Samir Nasri as well as Cesc Fagregas.

Nasri played his last match as a Arsenal Gunner during the Barclays Premier League match between Arsenal and Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium on August 20, 2011 in London, England.

Man City wrapped up their last major move of the transfer window by handing the 24-year old French star, Nasri, a four-year contract at £185,000-a-week.

In his first interview for city, Nasri remarked that the Arsenal crowd lacked passion.

‘The fans remind me of Marseille. Arsenal have good fans but they are not that passionate since they moved from Highbury to the Emirates.

‘I remember when we lost 3-0 to City the crowd was amazing and that’s what I want. I’m here to play football and to enjoy it and to win titles.

‘It’s a big relief because there were long, long negotiations between the two clubs. Now I’m finally a City player and I’m really happy.

‘I was a little a bit frustrated because I said to the manager that I wanted to leave. I wanted to do pre-season with Manchester City and to meet my new team-mates. It’s a new start and I’m looking forward to it.’

‘I spoke with Gael Clichy and Kolo Toure a lot and with Patrick. It was important to get advice from players at the club and they know the difference between Arsenal and Manchester City.

‘Patrick said City is the place to be because they are the club of the future and they want to win everything.’

‘When you arrive at the club you want to play with big players and the first game Aguero played he scored twice and made an assist.

‘I love that kind of player, they are not tall, they are like me! They have quick feet and good technique and when you play with players like this you are looking to have a connection with them.’

Nasri played his final game for Arsenal against Liverpool over the weekend.

‘I wanted to play because I’m not good at negotiations, I have an agent who has the qualities to do that. I just want to play.

‘The pre-season was hard because the last few games I didn’t play because the manager wanted to prepare his side for the Premier League. When I saw that the deal was happening, I said to Arsene that I wanted to play [against Liverpool].’

New boss Roberto Mancini said, ‘He’s a fantastic player because he has technique, he has mentality.

‘I knew him when he played for Marseille. I followed him when I was at Inter and we wanted to take him five years ago.

‘But I think in the last few years in the Premier League he’s improved a lot. Now I think he’s a top player.’

The fee paid for the midfielder was not announced but the fee is es timated at aronnd £25 million rising to £30 million.

Nasri who had less the a year left on his Arsenal contract joined the Reds back in 2008 from Marseille for around £12 million.

Wenger said, “We did not want to lose Fabregas, but we were forced into a situation we didn’t want. Nasri is a situation where the player didn’t want to extend his contract with the proposals he had somewhere else. What kind of commitment can you have when the player is not there long-term? That is the question you have to answer.

“Football rules are made like that, that the player can be worth a lot of money today and nothing in six months so it doesn’t look completely logical but, at the end of the day, of course, we are forced into a decision like that for psychological and financial reasons.

“I am a realist so I have no illusions. It’s part of the modern life of a professional football player. It’s not that by coincidence that everybody suddenly lands at Man City.”

Cesc Fabregas Makes Barcelona Debut

Cesc Fabregas is Fouled by Real Madrid’s Marcelo in his Barcelona Debut
Cesc Fabregas suffered a bad hit by Marcelo in his Barca debut.

The Spanish Super Cup, also known as El Clasico was exciting for the most part, but once again finished on a sour note. The clash was highlighted in a negative way in the end by Mourinho gouging Tito Villanova’s eye, after Marcelo was red carded for hacking Cesc Fabregas.

Barcelona beat Real Madrid 3-2 for the match, and 5-4 on aggregate to win the Spanish Supercup.

Barca superstar, Lionel Messi, scored two goals, and Andres Iniesta got the other – while Karim Benzema and Sergio Ramos scored for Los Blancos.

“Real Madrid gave a spectacular performance from the first to the last minute,” commented Jose Mourinho. “I just say what I think. We came here to play.

“The referee must punish what he deems punishable,” he said. “Pepe and Marcelo played a great game, one for the entire 90 minutes and the other for 45. Pepe saw a booking for a minor tackle and Marcelo gave a great performance.

“I’m not going to say we’re happy because we didn’t win the Spanish Super Cup; that would be hypocritical of me. We intend to play like men and not fall on the ground at the slightest touch.”

Barcelona FC manager, Pep Guardiola, has now won 11 major honors since becoming Barca coach in 2008.

Guardiola was delighted with Barca’s performance.

“What will stay with me is the inhuman effort of the players,” he said. “They responded like the players they are: eternal, mythical, unrepeatable, honest, who like to train and play football.

“Truthfully, seeing the way they responded, it’s a privilege and honor to be their manager.”

Arsenal Looses Cesc Fabregas to FC Barcelona

Cesc Fabregas, FC Barcelona

Cesc Fabregas was presented as the new signing for FC Barcelona at Camp Nou sports complex on August 15, 2011 in Barcelona, Spain.

After a long drawn out three year transfer saga, Cesc Fabregas finally completed a move to his home town Madrid club FC Barcelona.

The former Arsenal midfielder recently completed medical exams in Spain and signed a five-year-deal at the Barca.

A fee of £35.9 million plus add-ons has been agreed upon.

Fabregas reportedly will pay Arsenal £4.5 million out of his own pocket over the next five years.

‘We have been clear we didn’t want Cesc to leave and that remains the case. However we understand Cesc’s desire to move to his home-town club and have now accepted an offer from Barcelona. We thank Cesc for his contribution at Arsenal and wish him future success’. It has been suggested that Arsenal could have received up to £50 million had they auctioned him on the general market with Chelsea and Man City interested but Fabregas was only interested in Barcelona.” remarked Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger.

Wenger is under pressure to spend the cash received as he will also lose Samir Nasri to Manchester City this week.

Fabregas scored 57 goals in 303 appearances in North London after leaving Barca as a 16-year-old in September 2003.

Barca to Write Final Offer For Fabregas

Reportedly Barca, the European champions, plan to make a final offer for Fabregas to end one of the longest-running transfer sagas in football.

“We’re short of just one player and everyone knows which one that is,” Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola said.

Fabregas has missed all of Arsenal’s pre-season matches so far, with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger blaming both a hamstring injury and his captain’s continued “unsettled” future for his absence from the Emirates Cup last weekend.

The Spain midfielder left the stadium at half-time on Saturday and was absent yesterday as a late own goal ruined Arsenal’s chances of landing the Emirates Cup for the third successive season.

Fabregas is expected to be included in Arsenal’s 2011-12 official team photograph that will be taken tomorrow. However he may not be on the Gunner’s squad for the upcoming campaign.
