England Premier League : Arsenal v Reading

Jack Wilshere has missed Arsenal’s last two games due to a minor ankle injury. Twenty-one year old Wilshere will not be available for Saturday’s game against Reading as a precaution.

Even though the injury is not to the same leg that kept Wilshere out of action for almost a year and a half, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says that Wilshere will not be rushed back into action.

“We will rest him when it is needed,” Wenger said. “He has regular scans and as soon as we have an alert we will respect it no matter what is at stake.

“He had a difficult moment of course when you told him because he didn’t feel any special pain. But he knows he has to take care of his future. Because he is a very young player, I think he accepts it.”

Wilshere may be selected for England’s end-of-season friendlies against Republic of Ireland and Brazil.

“If he is selected, he will go,” said Wenger. “It depends what kind of shape he will be in.

“It is a job where you need to play and where you have a physical gamble but he doesn’t need any special treatment. You just have to be cautious with the inflammations of his ankle sometimes but if he has no problem, why not?”

Arsenal Jan Signings: Walcott, Wilshire, Gibbs, Jenkinson, Ramsey, Oxlade-Chamberlain

Arsenal FC Update

The January transfer window is still open and English Premier League teams are adding powerful footballers to their squads.

The Gunners reportedly have resigned fans’ favorite forward Theo Walcott.

Walcott signed a £90,000-a-week deal through 2016. The deal will end up keeping Walcott on for three-and-a-half years with a £3 million signing-on bonus.

Walcott’s attributes include his speed, balance and ability to move around the pitch. To date, Walcott has netted 56 goals and 45 assists in 244 total appearances with the team.

“What’s important now is for the team to realize its potential and win trophies,” said Walcott.

Walcott, along with Jack Wilshire, Kieran Gibbs, Carl Jenkinson, Aaron Ramsey and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, all signed five year extensions last month.

“I have made it clear from the start that I wanted to stay at Arsenal so I am pleased we have agreed a deal that everyone is happy with.
“Thanks to everyone for their continued support, especially the manager, everyone at the club and most importantly the fans,” said Walcott, Arsenal’s top scorer.

Jack Wilshere Has A New Son

Nineteen-year-old Jack Wislhere recently became a father.

Arsenal’s young midfielder, Wilshere, will have plenty to keep him busy during his five-month lay-off after the 19-year-old became a father on Thursday.

Wilshere’s girlfriend Lauren Neal, 22, gave birth to a boy, Archie Jack.

Arsenal midfielder, Jack Wilshere, has been out with an ankle injury all season. He will return to the field in February at the earliest.

Wishere has pledged his commitment to Arsenal and manager Arsene Wenger.

To date, Arsenal have lost four of their seven Premier League fixtures.

The Gunners are down 12 points off the top of the Premier League table.

Fans and media blame Wenger for Arsenal’s fall this campaign.

Wilshere does not agree.

“We do get a harder time from the critics than most teams but we haven’t won anything for six years and that’s not good enough for Arsenal,” Wilshere said. “It is harsh, though, especially on the boss. He has been there for 15 years and been great for Arsenal. The criticism that Arsène gets is just a joke. We have started a bit slowly but we still feel we can finish in the top four.”

Arsenal’s slow start is probably due to the late summer departures of Cesc Fábregas and Samir Nasri.

Wilshere is under contract until June 2015 and does not intend to leave.

“No disrespect to Manchester City but Arsenal is the perfect home for me right now,” he said.

“Some players have got their price but, to be honest, that’s not the way I look at the game. All I think about is playing at the highest level and in the top competitions, so I can measure myself against the best in the world. I really am happy at Arsenal at the minute. Obviously I want to win things and I want to do it with Arsenal.”

Wenger says Wilshere will be fully fit for the European Championship finals next summer.

“Everyone says that the players always look dead for England in the summer but I should be fresh if I come back strongly and I get picked,” he said. “It feels a long way off for me at the moment, because I am walking around on crutches. It’ll drive me crazy but what keeps you going is the thought that you will be back on the pitch again.”
